Pure history, industry and nature - on a challenging route, the Warndt-Saargau tour leads from Saarlouis with its old town and the remains of the historical fortifications through idyllic landscapes in Saargau and Warndt towards the world cultural heritage site Völklinger Hütte.

The starting point is in Wallerfangen, from where you drive along narrow serpentine roads towards St. Barbara. Past fields and orchards - you should take into account the special features of agricultural vehicles on the entire tour - the route continues in winding sections towards Siersburg. A first stop is worth it at the ruins of Siersburg. From there you have a particularly panoramic view over large parts of the Saargau. The route continues along narrow streets with lots of curves in the direction of Elmer village. After a downhill section, we head over the Nied towards Waldwisse/Gerlfangen. It continues uphill and then downhill again until you reach the town of Leidingen, which is divided by the state border with France. In the direction of Berus you pass another worthwhile stopover: the former transmitter of the Europe 1 station. Here, too, there is a special view over large parts of Saarlouis. From Berus a downhill passage leads towards Altforweiler. From there we continue to Überherrn – Bisten – Differten. The route leads past fields and meadows before it turns into the Warndtwald and you pass the Warndtweiher. From here it becomes narrower and the route climbs in rhythmic curves. The route descends to Karlsbrunn via serpentines. From there we go to the town of St. Nikolaus. The nearby mill pond invites you to take a break. We continue to Großrosseln/Völklingen. Passing fields and trees, you reach Emmersweiler via a country road. Now you drive again along the German-French border to Großrosseln, followed by Ludweiler and Werbeln.

The feedback from many bikers as well as press reports name this route one of the most perfect in Germany. The demanding tour through the region of the border triangle on the border with France, Luxembourg and Rhineland-Palatinate offers you many sections that are suitable for extremely inclined positions. The attentive driver also has a lot of things worth seeing, such as the Saar loop or the vineyards in the region around Perl. The town hall in Merzig is a suitable starting point, from where you are led through many small towns to Perl-Borg. You now have the opportunity to take a detour to “Villa Borg”.

We continue along a wide country road from which you can see the cooling towers of the Cattenom nuclear power plant. The route leads past vineyards to Perl and on to Sinz. When the weather is nice, there are lots of motorcyclists on the Moselle promenade in Remich. The actual route turns to the right in Sinz, followed by an uphill section that conquers the mountain in two lanes and curves and allows for spectacular inclines. Once at the top we continue to Saarbrurg/Münzingen. In Orscholz you should definitely go to the “Cloef”. Here you have a magnificent view over the Saar loop. Now you can expect a descent that is again suitable for extremely inclines. From Mettlach you go through many small towns until you reach the northernmost point of the tour in Nonnweiler. On this section you come straight past the Losheimer reservoir. It's also worth stopping here to dip your feet in the cool water at the beach. If your stomach is growling now, a visit to the Reimsbacher Hof is definitely worth it. Steaks, schnitzels and burgers in XXL format are waiting for you here. The tour now leads via Düppenweiler to Honzrath, towards Merzig/Merchingen. The last overland passage then takes you back to your starting point, the Merziger Stadthalle.
