Metz

The cultural and fortress city in the green

Metz is the capital of the Moselle department in the north-east of France. From the Hotel Mühlenthal in Schwalbach, the Lorraine town can be reached in less than an hour. With around 120,000 inhabitants, the city of Metz has a lot to offer: The city's three thousand year history is cherished and cared for, so that visitors can look forward to numerous historical buildings: from the Porte Serpenoise, the Roman gate, to the Gare de., built at the beginning of the 20th century There is a lot to see in Metz, the main train station.

Walk through the parks and gardens and enjoy the day. Over 570 hectares of green space make Metz one of the greenest cities in France - after all, that's around 45 square meters per inhabitant. There are numerous cafés in the shopping streets where you can relax.

Cultural life in Metz

With the "Opéra-Théâtre de Metz Métropole", built in 1738, Metz has the oldest theater in France. Since then, it has been considered one of the region's most emblematic cultural sites with sophisticated and innovative programs. From premieres to new aesthetic approaches, you will be captivated by the renowned artists.

Our recommendation: Cultural life is one of the city's flagships anyway: “Metz en Fêtes” is the name of the series of events that takes place in Metz every summer. Numerous performances, plays and festivals delight visitors from near and far.
